For centuries, many medicinal plants have been considered a fundamental source of potent 
anti-cholesterol
 
drugs. In developing countries, particularly, medicinal plants are used to treat 
cholesterol activity to overcome the burden of the cost of conventional medicines to the population 
(Arumugam 
et al.,
2013). Nowadays, treatments of diseases are using medicinal plants are 
recommended (Kooti
 et al., 2015
) because these plants contain various phytochemical constituents 
such as flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins, carotenoids, alkaloids, and glycosides. The combined action 
of biologically active compounds (i.e., polyphenols, carotenoids, lignans, coumarins, glucosinolates, 
etc.) leads to the potential beneficial properties of each plant matrix, and this can represent the first 
step for understanding their biological actions and beneficial activities (Durazzo 
et al
., 2018).
Pergularia daemia
[Forssk.chiov] (Asclepiadaceae) commonly known as `Uttamani`, 
`Velipparuthi` in India, grows in various parts of southern and northern India. The plant is perennial 
slender foetid-smelling climber. The plant is used to treat jaundice, by the folk people of Tamil Nādu, 
India. Its leaves are also used for the treatment of helminthiasis, hemorrhoids, leprosy and strongly 
recommended for the malarial intermittent fever (Kirtikar and Basu, 1984).
Therefore, the aim of the present work is to evaluate the effect of different doses of 
Pergularia
daemia
on anti-cholesterol activities.
