INTRODUCTION 
Designing effective online assessment gives you a chance to think about what 
you are attempting to accomplish in terms of grading your students. Transposing 
current assessment items to an online system or application rarely results in an efficient 
online assessment. Pedagogical issues always come first in effective online assessment, 
with technical considerations coming in second. Many various assessment modes, 
methods, and approaches are supported by a suite of online applications

However, well designed online assessment items can be reusable and scalable, 
requiring no more effort to administer to several hundred students than to a dozen. 
Based on the above considerations, this project, Web-based Examination 
System, arose from a desire to address the issues plaguing the traditional (paper-based) 
examination system by providing a campus-wide service for e-assessment that is free 
of irregularities and generally fair to examinees, as well as improving instant feedback

Furthermore, the system based on a Browser/Server framework to conduct the
examination and auto-grading of objective questions. The system simplifies the 
administration of exams, the gathering of answers, the automatic marking of 
submissions, and the generation of test reports. It will be accessed over the Internet, 
making it appropriate for both local and remote testing. 
This research suggests that if an efficient and effective online examination 
system is developed, where examinations will be taken online, and results computed 
and released immediately, as well as stored in a central database for documentation 
and future planning and evaluation purposes, there shall be relative balance and 
harmony within the University System. The staff will take the advantage of time 
that would have been spent on marking examination and preparing results to enable 
them do their research work.
