Three City Cooperation Meeting
October 2, 2012

Cascade Locks City Hall

Purpose: To develop a three community partnership and work with the Gorge Commission to establish a greater balance in the Gorge between preservation and economic development.

   Formal opening/roll call of Stevenson City Council Meeting

   Formal opening/roll call of North Bonneville City Council Meeting

   Formal opening/roll call of Cascade Locks City Council meeting

   Discussion and agreement on the purpose of this cooperative effort. There is general agreement regarding the balance issue and the discussion can be used to bring everyone up to the same point of understanding and agreement. Generally the discussion has focused on creating a better balance between preservation and economic development and beginning to focus on the two state compact and the original Gorge Scenic Area legislation to give job creation and economic development greater emphasis. Some discussion has been held about blurring the state line in favor of activities that will better and more effectively serve people living in the three communities.

   Discuss and create a list of specific initiatives the three communities can agree with. Some specific areas of cooperation and partnership have been discussed. They include education and schools, fire and emergency services, economic development and community marketing, waste treatment, bio fuels and creating jobs. The thought is to have the three communities attend the October Gorge Commission meeting and make a presentation to enlist Gorge Commission support for a new partnership and the new balance.
