Eric R. Wright
is professor and division director for health 
policy and management in the Department of Public Health 
at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He also serves 
as the director of the Center for Health Policy at Indiana 
University-Purdue University Indianapolis. In addition, he

holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Sociol-
ogy in the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts. His 
research interests center on health policy, social responses to 
health problems, and the social organization and effective-
ness of health services and public health programs.
Brea L. Perry
is assistant professor in the Department of 
Sociology at the University of Kentucky. Her research 
focuses on the interrelated roles of social networks and 
interaction, social structure, culture, and biological sys-
tems in disease etiology and the illness career. She has 
published research on dynamic social network processes, 
stigma and its consequences, youth in foster care, mental 
illness in children and adults, and gene–environment 
interactions in disease pathways.
