With the declaration of independence, society and the state, the press, radio, television and news agencies received a lot of attention. In the early 1990s, there were about 200 periodicals, but today their number has reached 1,000. Including 680 newspapers, 194 magazines, 4 national TV and radio companies, 34 TV and radio studios, 7 cable audiovisual media, 4 news agencies. The products of journalism are becoming more and more high-tech. The above-mentioned media are state and non-state media. The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan gives a special place to the media. The legislative framework has been created for their successful and full functioning. In order to raise the status of journalism in society, a number of measures have been taken at the state level. In 1996, Uzbekistan joined the World Wide Web. By 2006, the number of users of this global network was 1 million. 150,000 people. At the same time, it should be noted that new information technologies, while playing a positive role in our lives, can also serve to implement the nefarious intentions of unscrupulous people and even destructive state structures. It is already known how the press controls the minds of the people, and there is a lot of literature on this. A number of subsequent incidents also testify to this. An event can be interpreted differently by different media or by different journalists. It is worth mentioning the various clean and dirty information about statesmen and celebrities collected on special Internet sites and portals. In our country, which has chosen the path of democratic development, the media is an important tool for building a strong civil society. The legal framework for their activities has been created and is being improved, which guarantees the openness and transparency of information. It serves to increase the number of independent media, not only for the state, but also for different segments of the population. Expanding the access of the country's media to advanced information and communication technologies (ICT), including digital technologies, will help increase their activity and influence in the process of further democratization of society.
The role of the mass media is invaluable in conveying the essence of the state policy, the process of reforms in our country in an objective and timely manner to our people, in shaping public opinion and meeting people's information needs.
Therefore, a large-scale work is being carried out in our country to ensure the economic freedom of the media, their full support and development, strengthening the material and technical base, training, retraining, professional development of journalists.
