Polychaeta:

Banner sea-nymph, Nereis vexillosa (2 of many within layer of mud atop intertidal rock platform)

Scaleworm, unidentified (on rose star)

Split-branch feather-duster, Schizobranchia insignis

Vancouver feather-duster, Eudistylia vancouveri
BRYOZOA

Orange encrusting bryozoan, Schizoporella unicornis


MOLLUSCA

Chitons:

Lined chiton, Tonicella lineata



Oysters and Jingles:

Green false-jingle, Pododesmus macrochisma



Clams:

Nuttalli’s cockle, Clinocardium nuttallii (2)



Univalves:

Wrinkled dogwinkle, Nucella lamellosa

Leafy hornmouth, Ceratostoma foliatum (2)

Checkered hairysnail, Trichotropsis cancellata



Nudibranchs:

Monterey sea lemon, Doris montereyensis

Opalescent nudibranch, Hermissenda crassicornis (petite; found on kelp, feeding on hydroids)
ARTHROPODA

Crabs:

Red rock crab, Cancer productus (1 juvenile male with white/grey carapace; 1 adult female)

Graceful kelp crab, Pugettia gracilis

Hermits:

Grainyhand hermit, Pagurus granosimanus

Hairy hermit, Pagurus hirsutiusculus

Bering hermit, Pagurus beringanus (legs striped with blue, white and orange)



Barnacles: (only if attached on transportable rock or algae)

Common acorn barnacle, Balanus glandula

?Crenate barnacle, Balanus crenatus (on kelp)
ECHINODERMATA

Sea stars:

Purple or ochre star, Pisaster ochraceus (3 purple, 1 ochre)

Mottled star, Evasterias troschelii (3 large sizes with unexpected orange colour)

Blood star, Henricia leviuscula leviuscula (3)

Rose star, Crossaster papposus (13 arms and orange/red ring on dorsum)

Sea urchins:

Red sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus franciscanus

Green sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis

NB: as identified in the Collection Permit, these 2 specimens were preserved with permission from Tara to deposit the specimens in the Beaty Biodiversity Museum Education Collection.



Sea cucumbers:

Giant sea cucumber, Parastichopus californicus (2)


CHORDATA

Tunicates: (attached on transportable algae)

?Transparent tunicate, Corella willmeriana



Fishes (small (<20 cm, 8 in) and transportable)

Pacific sanddab, Citharichthys sordidus (orange/rust coloured spots; pectoral fins reach middle of eye)

Sailfin sculphin, Nautichthys oculofasciatus
FLORA:

Algae (primarily used in tanks as cover for small fish, etc.)

Eelgrass, Zostera marina

Sea lettuce, Ulva species

Sugar wrack kelp, Saccharina latissima



Wireweed, Sargassum muticum

Red spaghetti algae, Gracilaria/Gracilariopsis
