Unit Objectives 
At the end of this unit, one will be able to:

Once the consignment order for pick up is booked, an associate has to process the inbound 
documentation (say an entry gate pass) to facilitate the vehicle entry into the plant from where the 
goods are lined up for loading. The contract for transportation may also need to be executed with the 
specific transporter if it is a spot transaction and not a part of a long-term freight contract. 
Spot freight rates are generally higher as compared to long term freight contract rates as it is based 
upon the demand for loads and supply of transportation capacity in that geography at any given time.
