The teacher shows some slides and asks some questions. Teacher gives some background information about Teaching language skills for communication, asks questions, introduces the aims and tasks of the lesson.

The four language skills are related to each other in two ways:

  The direction of communication ( in or out)

  The method of communication ( spoken or written)
  

Input is sometimes called “reception” and output is sometimes called “production”. Spoken is also known as “oral”

  To support and assist each student to develop language skills in listening, speaking, vocabulary, reading and writing

  To work in the classroom to help each student to be successful in the mainstream program

When you are “learning English” you are learning all of these skills.

You will be strong in some and weak in others.Your classmate may have different strengths and weaknesses than you. That is why you shouldn’t try to compare yourself to others.
