The difference between a compulsory course and an elective course
The difference between an elective course and a compulsory course lies in the methods and techniques of teaching, its organization. Since there is a slight increase in linguistic material, mainly lexical and phonetic, less often grammatical, the acquaintance is actually reduced to a minimum.
In contrast to the compulsory course, students independently get acquainted with the words, since it is assumed that the methods of educational work, in particular work on the meaning and form of the word, are known to them from the compulsory course, as well as the ability to use a dictionary and reference books in general.
As for training, it should take place in elective classes and can be associated with the improvement of pronunciation, lexical and grammatical skills, as a rule, in order to neutralize the interfering influence and passing through the performance of various exercises in speech. The focus of elective course is the application of the acquired skills in speaking and reading.⁷
