Learn the meaning of the word “MUSEUM” - The English "museum" comes from the Latin word, "museums" (or, rarely, "musea").It is originally from the Greek Μουσείον (Mouseion), which denotes a place or temple dedicated to the Muses (the patron divinities in Greek mythology of the arts).Museums collect and care for objects of scientific, artistic, or historical importance and make them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary. Most large museums are located in major cities throughout the world.
What is museum? It is an organization which works on collecting, keeping and exhibiting everything what has historical value. These may be monuments, masterpieces of art, pictures, machines, scientific collections and so on. There are a lot museums in the world. They are different – historical museums of regional ethnography, art galleries, zoological, museums devoted to famous writers, poets, scientists, well – known people. - What is museum?
