Abstract 

Giresun;  With  its  geographical  location,  suitable  climatic  conditions,  historical  and  rich 

cultural accumulation, with its historical, natural and cultural tourist areas, it hosts native and foreign 

tourists and provides inputs to the provincial economy. The contribution of tourism to the provincial 

economy is as important as the provincial economy in universities. Considering that more than thirty 

thousand  native  and  foreign  students  are  studying  at  Giresun  University,  their  awareness  and 

experiences about the tourist attractions of the province provide important opportunities for both the

provincial economy and the promotion of destinations. In this context, it was aimed to determine the 

awareness and  experience levels  of university students in the tourist areas of Giresun province. In 

the research, “tourist destination awareness and experience questionnaire was used as data collection 

tool. According to the research data, it was determined that the awareness and experience levels of 

the university students studying in Giresun about the tourist destinations of the province were quite 

low.
