5 List of awards and nominations received by J. K. Rowling
Rowling has won numerous accolades for the Harry Potter series for general literature, children's literature and speculative fiction. In 2000, Prisoner of Azkaban was nominated for the Whitbread Book of the Year where it competed against a book by a Nobel prize laureate. The award body gave it the children's prize instead (worth half the cash amount); some scholars view this as exposing a literary prejudice against children's books. The series has won multiple British Book Awards, beginning with the Children's Book of the Year for Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, followed by a shift to the more general Book of the Year for Half-Blood Prince. It received speculative fiction awards such as the Hugo Award for Best Novel for Goblet of Fire.Rowling's early career awards include the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to children's literature in 2000,and three years later, the Spanish Prince of Asturias Award for Concord. She won the British Book Awards' Author of the Year and Outstanding Achievement prizes over the span of the Harry Potter series.Following the publication of Deathly Hallows, Time named Rowling a runner-up for its 2007 Person of the Year, citing the social, moral, and political inspiration she gave her fans. Two years later, she was recognised as a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and leading magazine editors named her the "Most Influential Woman in the UK".Later awards include the Freedom of the City of London in 2012and for her services to literature and philanthropy, the Order of the Companions of Honour (CH) in 2017.Academic bodies have bestowed multiple honourson Rowling including honorary degrees from the University of Exeter (which she attended)and Harvard University, where she spoke at the 2008 commencement ceremony. The same year, Rowling won University College Dublin's James Joyce Award. Her other honours include fellowship of the Royal Society of Literature (FRSL), the Royal Society of Edinburgh (HonFRSE), and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh .Rowling's other works have also received recognition. The fifth volume of the Cormoran Strike series won the British Book Awards' Crime and Thriller category in 2021. At the 2011 British Academy Film Awards, the Harry Potter film series was named an Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema; Rowling shared this honour with producer David Heyman and members of the cast and crew.Harry Potter and the Cursed Child won a record-breaking number of Laurence Olivier Awards in 2017.

Conclusion

.These changes took distinct shape in the literature of the 20th century. Modernism, a movement that was a radical break from 19th century Victorianism, led to postmodernism, which emphasized self-consciousness and pop art.Modernism is a major literary movement of the first part of the twentieth-century. The term Postmodern literature is used to describe certain tendencies in post-World War II literature.Characteristic features of later 20th-century music with origins in futurism include the prepared piano, integral serialism, extended vocal techniques, graphic notation, improvisation, and minimalism.
Joanne Rowling was born 31 July 1965), also known by her pen name J. K. Rowling, is a British author and philanthropist. She wrote a seven-volume children's fantasy series, Harry Potter, published from 1997 to 2007. The series has been enormously successful: it has sold over 500 million copies, been translated into at least 70 languages, and spawned a global media franchise including films and video games. Conclusion—Application of Harry Potter:
The widely read Harry Potter series have left many children and adults discussing the application of Harry’s adventures to everyday life. Through these discussions, some have concluded that Harry Potter should not be read by those of the Christian tradition. These conclusions have been drawn as both laypeople and clerics focus on the use of magic within the stories. However, upon examining the series for relevant and applicable theologies and philosophies, several developmental tasks can be presented.Harry quickly learns at Hogwarts that good is something that can be actualized. But before he learns to do good, he learns that good has the potential to produce great things. However, more important than the lesson that good produces great things, is the lesson that greatness is not always good. Everyone has the potential to do good. This a function of creation. However, we must use wisdom and characteristics of good, love, courage, bravery, to do positive and great works.

Yes, thirteen-and-a half inches. Yew. Curious indeed how these things happen. The wand chooses the wizard, remember….I think we must expect great things from you, Mr. Potter….After all, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named did great things-terrible, yes, but great.

Finally, in Romans, we learn that evil can be overcame through good.. Evil is overcame through loving what is genuine and holding fast to what is good. Scripture writings also refer to the fruits of what is good.No good tree bears bad fruit, not again does a bad tree bear good fruit; for each tree is known by its own fruit[…]The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. This scripture passage tells the story of Harry Potter. Harry came from a good tree. Therefore, he could only be good. Through the loving actions of his father, and particularly his mother, good withstood evil and good prevailed. From that moment Harry would forever speak good, for the mark of good was left behind. The symbol of good, a lightening bolt, rests upon a forehead of a child.
Thus having considered these things—good and evil in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, one can reach the conclusion that the book is not detrimental to children of the Christian faith. True, it uses "magic" or even "sorcery" in a manner that would make many uncomfortable. However, upon a deeper reading of what "magic" really is in Harry Potter, and seeing how goodness is in all things favorable to evil, Harry Potter is a positive resource to adults and children. It allows both to explore the core of their own faiths more deeply and with more imagination—it is a powerful, contemporary moral tale.
