Text: The Railway transport advantages in Uzbekistan

The transport of Uzbekistan includes all kinds of transport means such as – railway, automobile, air, pipe lines and river means of conveyance. Freight and passengers’ transportation is carried out on a wide scale annually.

Railways hold the leading position in transportation of freights and passengers. The greatest advantage of the railway transport is in its ability to carry big amount of cargoes and despite weather conditions, stability of its operation during a year, in comparison with air and water means of transportation.

Various regions of the Republic are connected with railway oing outside of Uzbekistan. If at the beginning of the 20s the total length of the railway of Uzbekistan was 1589 km, then now equals to 6700 km.

Uzbekistan gives way only to Kazakhstan in the length of railway lines, leaving behind all other Central Asian States.

Many products of various branches of industry are delivered by railway transport, among them are: timber, metal and metal constructions, building materials. The export of our country includes not only traditional products of Uzbekistan such as cotton-fiber, raw-silk, vegetable oil, various kinds of fruits, grapes, vegetables, melons, but also automobiles, TV sets, and others.
