To improve the traffic communication and make it safer, the condition of roads is improved in various regions. Bridges over and underpasses under construction.

For instance, at the eve of Independence the automobile bridge across the Amudarya river, that was the biggest obstacle on transport roads between the Eastern and western parts of the country, was put into operation.

This modern bridge connected the banks of the biggest river in the central part of Karakalpakistan, brought together inhabitants of the Nukus and Khodjeyli districts. The total length of the bridge 1260 meters and its importance is undeniable.

Till now there was constructed only one bridge for automobiles across the Amudarya – the Khayraton, giving way only to the Syrdarya River. It mainly served geopolitical interests of the former USSR and was used for military operations in Afghanistan. 1998 Uzbekistan took the 1^st place in increase of all types of cargo transportation service rates within the CIS countries. In this respect our country is ahead of Kazakhstan 2,3 times, of Russia and Ukraine -3,6 times, Belarus and the average CIS level – 3 times.
