Bibi-Khanum Mosque

Bibi-Khanum Mosque is sacred monument of the 15th century. The mosque was erected by order of Khan Tamerlane, who returned from India with a triumphant victory. The great commander wanted to erect a lifetime monument, testifying to his victories. In total, about 700 people took part in the construction. Despite numerous earthquakes, the mosque was able to maintain its great grandeur and beauty, which contributed to the large-scale restoration work that has been carried out here for 35 years, starting in 1968.

The Rukhabad Mausoleum

The Rukhabad Mausoleum in Samarkand is one of the first buildings in the city, built during the reign of Tamerlane. Here you will not find bright colors and traditional mosaics. The mausoleum contains the relics of the saint Burhanaddin Sagaraja, famous in Islam, who spent his life in constant pilgrimage and acted as the spiritual mentor of Tamerlane himself.
