Activity 2b Work in groups. Answer the questions.
Objective: to practise talking about places where people can eat out
PP work in groups. They look at the pictures and answer the questions.
1 Where are the people in the pictures?
2 What are the differences between these places?
3 You can eat in these places. What else can you do?
4 Which of these places are in Uzbekistan?
5 What do you know about Uzbek and English eating habits?


Activity 3a Read and choose the best title.
Objective: to read for gist
PP read the text silently and choose the best tittle.

Activity 3b Read and say True, False or Don’t know.
Objective: to check comprehension of the text
PP read the sentences aloud and say whether they are true or false. Ask them to correct the false ones. e.g. 1 Millions of Americans go to fast food restaurants.
Activity 3c Work in groups. Answer the questions.
Objective: to give pupils freer practice in talking about fast food
Make groups. While PP are discussing the questions, walk around, help with the vocabulary and correct mistakes. If time allows, ask groups to report.
IV. Post-Activity


Ordering in a restaurant – game
Vocabulary: Dishes (appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes), drinks, desserts…
Materials: Cards with pictures of food, drinks, and desserts. Prepare as many cards as you'd like this game to last. Students work in pairs, one is waiter, the other a guest in a restaurant. You can also prepare menus for ordering or download some from the Internet. Here are some nice examples.
How to play:
Give each student that plays a guest a picture-card or several with different dishes, so he/she knows which dishes to order from the waiter. It might be a good idea to write the words (names of dishes for example) on the board.
