Abstract: 
The paper discusses the relevance of medical tourism and India’s position as the hub of South Asian medical tourism in 
the post COVID- 19 period. The paper attempts to make a SWOT analysis of the opportunities for medical tourism in India. The 
paper analyses the traditional systems of diagnosis and treatment in India and underline the relevance of these traditional medical 
systems in the modern scenario and their role in the facilitation of India’s position as the hub of medical tourism in South Asian 
countries. A comparative analysis of medical expenses in first world countries to that of South Asian countries especially India is 
also discussed in the paper.

The New millennium world of today is a technically advanced one-right from versatile handsets, fast web meets, online order of 
eatable and groceries, passenger friendly easy and hasslefree travel, and headways in the field of medicine has made life easy and 
comfortable for the new millennium modern man The phenomenal development of the first world countries and even the third world 
countries made citizens to be cool and comfortable as though they will exist forever. In the first three months of 2020 ordinary 
citizens experienced the greatest jolt . Only at this juncture when COVID-19 was the main topic of global conversation does this 
paper gain its relevance.
The objective of the paper is to discuss the recent developments in the field of medical tourism and also to bring out the strategic 
position of India as the hub of South Asian medical tourism.
