Present levels of educational performance
The “present levels” statement is intended to comprehensively describe a child’s abilities,
performance, strengths, and needs. A well-written present level will describe: the child’s
strengths and weaknesses; what helps the child learn; what limits or interferes with the child’s
learning; objective data from current evaluations of the child, and; how the child’s disability
affects his or her ability to be involved and progress in the general curriculum. It is the
foundation upon which the rest of the IEP can be developed to specify appropriate goals,
services, supports, accommodations, and placement for the child










Qualified examiner: a person licensed or certified in the state in which the evaluation is performed, who performs
a formal diagnostic assessment in the area of disability in which the person is qualified to perform the assessment as
set forth in the NH Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities.










Qualification This term is commonly used in at least two different
ways/contexts: (a) formal qualification: the formal
outcome (certificate, diploma or title) of an assessment
and validation process which is obtained when a
competent body determines that an individual has
achieved learning outcomes to given standards and/or
possesses the necessary competence to do a job in a
specific area of work; a qualification confers official
recognition of the value of learning outcomes in the
labour market and in education and training, and can
be a legal entitlement to practise a trade; and (b) job
requirements: knowledge, aptitudes and skills required
to perform the specific tasks attached to a particular
