foreign institutes of good reputation. The difference between their education
had no impact on their business. When they were asked about the impact of
their education on the success, they denied the benefit of higher education.
They admitted that instead of education they always thought their
experiences helped them more in the survival of their business. These
results show that education and business degree in particular has no impact
on the survival of business.
4.9.1 Reasoning of the confirmation of education as a survival factor
In support of role of education influencing the success of business, our
participants made the following statements:
“
I did a simple Bachelor
’
s degree in Arts and it didn
’
t help me in any
way so I believe that education enables
to understand certain
structures and business procedures but it doesn
’
t determine the
success of business. It helps in communication sometimes but if your
business is in Korea you need nothing but capability of speaking
Korean.
”
(Case 1)
“
I don
’
t think I would ever think that I could have done better if I was
more educated.
In my opinion, doing a business in Korea doesn
’
t
require advanced degrees.
”
(Case 4)
“
I don
’
t think my degree ever helped me in any way regarding my
business. I took decisions as per my understanding not because I got
a Master
’
s degree from South Korea. I
feel like I wasted time in
studying instead of doing business at the first place because the
lessons I learnt were never taught in my classes. Education works as
a guideline and people take you more seriously but that
’
s all it does
to me
”
. (Case 5)

In contrary to the above statements, other respondents had a different point
of view when they were asked about the role of education in their businesses.
“
I did Bachelor
’
s degree in Arts from Pakistan and I don
’
t believe that
education can help a business unless you have technical skills that
can help you understand the modern era
’
s needs such
as social media
marketing. If I knew Social Network Sites (SNS) algorithm than I can
expect that my business could have reached out to more people than
now
”
. (Case 2)
“
I did Bachelor
’
s degree from Nepal and then did my postgraduate
diploma from UK. Later, I got a degree in Hypnotherapy, which has
nothing to do with the business I am doing now so education doesn
’
t
define any direction it just gives you a knowledge of certain life areas.
In my opinion, If I did my master
’
s degree from Korea, I would have
more benefits in terms of learning knowledge and culture so obtaining
a degree from host country before starting a business works better
”
.
(Case 3)
4.10 Previous Work Experience
Proposition No 6: The longer the previous work
experience
of the necessity immigrant entrepreneur, the better the
survival of his or her business.
Result: Proposition 6 is partially confirmed because 2 of the immigrant
entrepreneurs had an experience of running a business while on the other
hand 3 of them had no prior business experience. Among the participants, 3
of the immigrant entrepreneurs in this research confirmed that their work
experience in the food industry helped them
to understand the industry
mechanisms and to foresee the possible challenges. In contrary to this, 2
