6. Theme: MY NATIVE TOWN

Termez is in the center of Surkhandarya region. It is one of the ancient cities in the Central Asia. Termez was founded more than twenty-five centuries ago.

In old times it was a city of old, small, clay houses. The streets were dirty, narrow and crooked. Now it became a modern city with huge blocks and comfortable buildings.

Termez is a wonderful city if you see its great buildings, museums and monuments. There are something to catch your eyes. Termez is the Gateway to the Central Asia. There are many places of interest in Termez. They are: the Termez fortress served as a prison for political prisoners in old lime. The Termez river port is also important. From this port imported various goods to the different countries of the Central Asia. There are many ancient places too. They are: "Al-Khakim Termezi", "Sultan-Saodat" and other places. There are many factories which produce meat, milk, sausage, bread and sweets. There are many institutions of higher and special educations in Termez which are training hundreds of engineers, medical workers, builders, teachers. Termez is wonderful with its new parks, avenues, gardens, stadiums, libraries and Zoo. In the Zoo you can see all kinds of wild and domestic animals. The Termez Zoo is known in our republic. Now Termez became an interest city. Every year about thou­sand foreigners visit the historical places of Termez.
