Use of plenary sessions 

Plenary  sessions  are  important  in  that  they  allow  you  to  see  if  students  did  learn 

something in the lesson you have planned  and given. This session also reinforces 

student  learning.  You  can  start  by  telling  the  students  what  they  have  learned  – 

sum  up  the  session.  When  you  know  the  students,  you  can  ask  them  what  they 

have learned. 

Example: 

Teacher: Right Obi, in your own words, what have we learned today? 

Obi: We learned about abstract nouns, sir. They are about feelings, sir.

Teacher: Good, Obi. Now can anyone give me some examples of abstract nouns? 

Obi  shows  the  teacher  that  he  has  learned  something  about  abstract  nouns.  The 

teacher is now checking that the class can give him some examples. The learning 

process has been reinforced.
