Written assessment 

Students  can  assess  each  other’s  writing.  I  have  used  the  following  sheet  to  help 

them  form  a  judgement.  The  sheet  can  be  adapted  to  the  ability  of  the  students. 

Name, structure, interest, plot, character 

Structure: Does the story make sense? Is it punctuated correctly? 

Interest: Is the story interesting? 

Plot: Does the plot work? 

Character: Do the characters feel real? (Each of the above sections is to be marked 

out  of  five.)  Suggest  two  targets  for  improvement  when  your  partner  redrafts  the 

essay.
