Conclusion
Carpe diem is a Latin phrase meaning “seize the day.” In poetry, carpe diem gives the literature the theme of living for today. Examples of carpe diem can be found in poems such as “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” by Christopher Marlowe and “To His Coy Mistress” by Andrew Marvell. These poems are written in a romantic fashion and detail the many pleasures the speakers wish to give their loves. Both Marlowe and Marvell, realizing just how precious time and love are, use carpe diem poetry to implore with their loves to amorously seize the day.
In “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love,” Marlowe chooses to place the main emphasis on the pleasures, or the fantasy that his speaker, the shepherd, chooses to live in. Although he has a carpe diem mindset, Marlowe expresses his seize the day mentality more gently than Marvell does. Marlowe uses phrases like “if these pleasures may thee move” (19) and “[i]f these delights thy mind may move” (23) to urge his love to “[c]ome live with [him] and be [his] love” (20). The use of the word “if” in his two imploring statements give the shepherd’s love options; therefore making the request to seize the day a little less urgent. The shepherd uses the pleasures of life to explain to his love that time is precious. He wants her to know that the precious time they are given should be spent being in love and enjoying life together.
Marlowe, reinforcing his emphasis on the delicacies of life, begins his poem by immediately making reference to the pleasures the speaker can offer his love. The speaker writes to his lady in the very first stanza about how the entire landscape--“valleys, groves, hills, and fields, / [w]oods, [and] steepy mountains”-- will give them endless adventures (3-4).

In that way many of the eccentric " verses " in Blake's prophetic books were created. Of the second kind of corruption the following speech by the Queen is an example :
Had I been there, the soldiers would have lost Me on their lances' points | before I would have Granted to their wills. [ The Duke is made Protector of the land: | sterne Fawconbridge Commands the narrow seas. [ And think thou then

An amended division of the verses has been suggested by the perpendicular lines added in this quotation. In speaking the hundreds of other misprinted lines the sound will easily guide the reader to something like the arrangement which the printer has corrupte
