PRICING STEP BY STEP

  1. In the given “vehicle” field, beneath the vehicle model and year make, there is a drop down menu we use for choosing the vehicle type (small sedan, midsize sedan, large sedan, convertible, coupe, small SUV, midsize SUV, large SUV, Pick-up…). Once we define the vehicle type (there is a direct google link you can follow to help determine whether the vehicle is a sedan, SUV, pick-up truck, small, midsize or large), click on $ (Sample Prices) and you will see a pop up window with Sample Prices. It shows the mileage distance between the origin and destination points and lists a number of vehicles of the similar vehicle type and similar mileage that were posted and accepted/transported on that particular route. The parameter for our price is the route with the destination best matching our own. Sometimes the range of prices on SP is wide, but keep in mind that prices listed there are for a variety of dates and different flexibility with dates, which is why they always needs to be compared to the prices listed on Central Dispatch.

  2. CD should be set on “City Search”. The radius should be set to 50 miles (it displays all vehicles awaiting transportation within a 50mile radius from our pickup and drop off locations), cargo options should be set to “All vehicle types”. Date and pricing options should be set to “Show 100”, no highlighting, posted by all companies, sort by price, then ship date.

On CD in the origin and destination fields, we should input the pickup and drop off zip codes, then click on “Search Vehicles”. If there are no results, we go back to the search page, set the radius to 100miles and click search again. All vehicles awaiting for transportation will be displayed on that page within a 50mi radius (or 100mi or 25mi depending on the set criteria), sorted by the highest price on top of the page and the lowest on the bottom. Vehicle types are displayed next to the given prices, the number of vehicles per load (in case a customer is shipping more than one vehicle), operability (operable or inoperable), whether the customer is searching for an open or enclosed trailer, the exact mileage, the company that posted the load, the date the load was posted and the 1st available pickup date for that particular load. Underneath the last two fields, there is a “View Route” button (clicking it will display a map showing what the route looks like, if it’s covering major roads and major cities…so we could have a better insight on whether the route is good or not) and a “Compare” button, which is actually a bigger version of Sample Prices and shows the same info as SP, except it covers more information and shows a bigger number of vehicles and destinations.
Now we can compare our Sample Prices with the prices of loads that are already posted and we can tell where our vehicle would find its place on the list with the price recommended in Sample Prices. We must consider the customer’s flexibility and if we could be given a couple of days to assign a driver, or whether the customer needs their vehicle picked up urgently, ASAP (urgent, ASAP shipments require priority from the driver’s end, which means we have to offer a price that’s better than the other prices listed on that route for other vehicles of the same type on CD, in order for the driver to actually accept and transport it). If the pickup and drop off locations are both major cities, the driver will accept that vehicle for less money, rather than the ones that require rerouting from major routes to pick up a vehicle in a smaller city or countryside. That’s why major city to major city routes are always more economical. We compare prices for our vehicle with prices posted on CD for the same vehicle type, similar dates and with the same criteria (inoperable vehicles are compared to other listed inoperable vehicles, enclosed trailer with enclosed trailers, always keeping in mind that the price used for comparison must be realistic, because many vehicles will also be underpriced). When we compare prices, another thing we should pay attention to is when the particular load was actually posted and how long it’s been waiting for transportation. If it was posted a long time ago and the date is listed as ASAP, it’s clear that it was underpriced and it won’t be accepted by a drive. We should also pay attention to loads posted with a date that’s far away, because those loads aren’t a good parameter for our prices. Only the loads posted with dates similar to ours are to be taken into consideration.
