She takes us for a jolly ride.

Paraphrase: Enormous and obese elephant walks around. She carries us at a canter by fluttering her trunk to and fro.

   Synonym games can be the prompt to inspire learners to practice paraphrasing.
   

Each student is given a short sentence which they must get the class to guess. They must use synonyms and other phrases to get their team to recreate the original sentence.

Paraphrasing may seem an arduous task demanding lots of effort, nevertheless it does not have to be.
