take off = when your plane starts the journey
stop over = break your journey in a particular place (Also a noun = “stop-over”)
pick up (a hire car) = get the keys to a hire car

cool off = make yourself cooler
kick back = relax
take in = make time for an activity

a busman's holiday= a vacation that is spent engaging in an activity that is similar to what one does for work

all holiday= ruined, bankrupt, or without work, as of a person, business, or organization.

a blind man's holiday=a "holiday" because one cannot work when it is too dark to see

hell on a holiday = a big commotion.

Home from home (UK), Home away from home (US) = a place where you feel as comfortable as you do in your own home

A change is as good as a rest= you can get as much good from changing the work you do as from having a rest

to recharge your batteries=to have a period of rest and relaxation so that you feel energetic again

short break= a period of time devoted to pleasure and rest

to make a nice change =something pleasant that we don't often do
