Dear Sam, 
I am writing to ask you for advice about my vacation. I will have some time off of work 
soon. I would like to spend most of that time at the beach, and I hope you have some sug­
gestions for me. 
I will have the entire month of August off of work. I am looking forward to this because I 
haven't had a vacation in a long time. We have been very busy at the office for most of this 
year, so I am glad to have the opportunity to relax now. 
I would like to spend my month off at a nice beach resort. I am hoping to stay at a hotel 
that is right next to the beach and that provides all meals. I would also prefer a place that 
is peaceful and quiet. 
I hope you can suggest a good place for my vacation. I know you travel a lot and have 
stayed at many resorts. If you could let me know the names of some of your favorite ones, 
I would appreciate it.

Dear Mr. Smith, 
I thought you should know about a problem in my apartment that needs some repairs. 
The kitchen sink has been leaking for some time now. I believe that the pipe under the sink 
should be replaced soon. 
The leak in the kitchen sink is causing a serious problem. Because the area under the sink 
has become very damp, the wood is beginning to rot. Unfortunately, it appears that the 
cause of the dampness is a hole in the drainpipe. 
In my opinion, the drainpipe should be replaced as soon as possible. Otherwise, the prob­
lem will only get worse, and the entire cabinet will have to be replaced. 
I suggest that you come to my apartment and look at the leaky sink with me. Then, we can 
discuss the best action to take.
