SENTENCE TYPES
IELTS examiners want you to vary the sentence types you use. There are four types of sen
tences: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.
Simple Sentence
A simple sentence has one subject and one verb.
Children develop important skills at preschool.

Compound Sentence
A compound sentence is made up of two or more independent clauses linked by a coordinat
ing conjunction. An independent clause is a clause that can stand alone as a sentence.
