PART 3
ARE YOUNG PEOPLE GETTING DUMBER?
Research carried out in the United States has discovered that young people no longer read newspapers regularly. The researchers claim they are astonished that, whereas decades ago young and old Americans got their news from the same sources, nowadays teenagers and young adults don’t read a newspaper as part of their typical daily routine. Young people’s lives aren’t built around routines, but are often chaotic and unplanned. What’s more, why should they make the time to read something that was never written with their interests in mind, anyway? Some people have taken the results of this research to conclude that, because young people don’t read newspapers, they must be less well-informed. But they fail to consider that the widespread use of the Internet has not only changed but improved the way young people access the news. Newspapers are quickly becoming old-fashioned, and as more older people get used to obtaining news faster and for free online, newsprint will soon be a thing of the past read only by those too afraid to use a computer.
7. POLITENESS:
PART 1.
1. Do you think you are a polite person?
I don’t think my politeness is in a perfect level, cause I may shout at people if I’m not in a mood. However, I always try my best to behave kindly to other people.
2. Who taught you to be polite?
Definitely, my parents and teachers. They guided me through the right way and taught me how to treat people from childhood.
3. How do your family members show politeness?
My folks express their politeness with their actions, like behaving in good manner, saying hello and thanks to people.
Part 2.
Describe a TV program which you enjoy watching in your free time
I’m going to talk about “Zakovat”, one of my favorite Tv shows that I watch . As far as I can remember, it is originally a Uzbek TV show, and it made its first debut more than 10 years ago.
This is kind of a quiz show in which contestants have to go through a set of questions with increasing difficulty. The questions are really tough and demand huge concentration, critical and logical thinking. Contestants are given 3 lifelines to aid them with difficult questions, and most of them are usually used up when the contestant reaches around question 7 or 8.
The entire show is a sea of knowledge. Many questions from different fields are asked, ranging from trivial things like ingredients needed to make cookies to academic stuff like quantum physics and archeology.
As I’m quite a curious person I try not to miss any weekly series of this show as the knowledge acquired from those shows are really helpful to me in many of my high school knowledge quizzes.
