CON |
In certain resource areas, geothermal fluids or steam contain substantial amounts of
hydrogen sulfide (H
2
S) and other non-condensable gases (NCGs), such as CO
2
, that
can have environmental impacts if released to the atmosphere. However, since NCG
have to be removed from the steam before it enters the turbine, geothermal fields with high NCG
concentrations cannot be used for power generation.
3 | PrO |
Geothermal power facilities require less land compared to hydropower with storage or coal
power plants.
9
Their land requirements also compare favorably with those of grid-connected wind
or solar power.
