Installation on Slopes 

Place the mat 2 to 3 ft (0.66 – 1.0 m) over the 

top of the slope and into an excavate end trench 

measuring approximately 12-inch (30 cm) deep 

by 6-inch (15 cm) wide.  Pin the mat at 1-ft (0.3 

m) intervals along the bottom of the trench, 

backfill and compact.  (See note above for 

details of mat placement in trench.)  Unroll the 

mat down (or along) the slope maintaining 

intimate contact between the soil and the mat.  

Overlap adjacent rolls a minimum of 3-inch (7.5 

cm).  Pin the mat to the ground using staples or 

pins in a 3-ft (1 m) center-to-center pattern.  

Less frequent stapling/pinning is acceptable on 

moderate slopes.
