Dear Parent or Guardian:
During the month of May, we will start to create tentative class rosters for the 2012-2013 school year. We take a great deal of time and care in developing our classes. Classes are subject to reorganization throughout the summer due to shifts in enrollment, new staff hired, and finalization of teacher assignments.
Our goals are to create classes that are balanced in terms of gender and race, having dependent and independent workers, leaders and followers. We also look carefully at children who work well together and who motivate each other. We try to separate children who do not work well together or who have a negative effect on each other. The aim is to create homeroom classes in which children and teachers can thrive and be productive.
Please feel free to complete the attached form, one per child, and return it to my attention by Friday, April 27, 2012. This form is not a teacher request, but rather your opportunity to share anything that you do not think we already know. Please feel free to describe how you see your child as a learner and to share with us what elements you believe should be included in your child’s instructional environment. This form is optional and is just a means to share your thoughts/concerns with the school. If you are writing me a letter about your child’s needs, please provide me with a separate letter for each child as we paperclip what we need to know by grade.
If you are a parent of a kindergarten, first, third or fourth grade student, you are receiving this. Parents of second grade students received a different letter and form to complete in conjunction with the gifted and talented identification process.
