Automobile makers like Ford routinely offer sales incentives on vehicles that
are selling at a slower rate than projected. Common consumer incentives
include price cuts, rebates, and low interest rate financing. Incentives are also
offered to dealerships and individual sales people who “push” these vehicles.
Extra commissions and bonuses, for example, are often used in addition to
consumer incentives.
