Envionmental protection is the practice of protecting the natural environment by individuals, organizations and governments.it`s objectives are to conserve natural resources and the existing natural environment and, where possible, to repair damage and reverse trends.

Importance of preserving and conserving the environment
Human beings use water and coal to produce electricity which in turn helps us to provide heat and light for our homes.
Trees should be allowed to grow. They help in reducing air temperature, remove pollutants from the atmosphere, provide us with oxugen reduce noise pollution and most important, decrease soil erosion. Some times it becomes necessary to cut down trees. This should be made up by planting more trees.

Since its inception in 1972, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has been the global authority that sets the environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmrntal dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocste for the global environment.

UNEP`s mission is to provide leadershib and encourage partnershib in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples toregional, liaison and out-posed offices and a network of collaborating centres of excellence.
UNEP categorizes its work into seven broad thematic areas: climate change, disasters and conflicts, ecosystem management, environmental governance, chemicals and waste, resource efficiency, and environment under review.
