Flint Hill Farm is a non profit, agro-educational Center serving the Greater Lehigh Valley since 2006. Our mission statement has 3 areas of focus.

Feeding the Spirit: Vocational Outreach programs for teens and young adults with mental and physical challenges.

Educating the Mind: Pre-school and primary grade educational programs focusing on demonstrating the importance of responsible stewardship of our resources of water, air and earth. Students are introduced to animal and plant life that for the daily ballence of life for individuals living in the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Preserving the Community: Community educational programs, Farm Store and Dairy, Seasonal Open Houses for individuals and community groups
Flint Hill Farm takes on interns as part of our mission statement “Preserving the Community” . The position of intern has the following expectations:

Identify primary focus of intern position (ie. Greenhouse, cheese making and dairy, herd management)

Identify length of time commitment. Commitment is expected from 3-6 months depending on area.

Identify number of days committed. Interns usually work off the farm (since for 2012 there is no stipend available). The intern would commit 2-3 days to working on the farm in area of interest plus be available to lend a hand where needed during the hours at the farm.

Identify hours available on days committed to FHFED programs. Ex. Time commitment during cheese making process varies to type and amount of cheese made. These days to not necessarily run the 8 hr block ( for example mozzarella pasteurization starts at 5PM to be ready to stretch around 1:30PM with clean up and pm milking finishing around 6pm.

Interns rotate within the farm to different mentors who are well oriented to the separate programs depending on the days the intern is available, season of the year and staffing to make the most of all resources.
Basic requirements:
1. Clearance through local police dept. since FHFED is involved with school /community educational programs
2.Proof of insurance and signed release paper releasing FHFED from any liability for injury while at FHFED and SS# on file
3.Appropriate clothing for all weather changes during the seasons
4. Cell phone
5. Reliable transportation
6. 2 letters of recommendation
