Exploratory Action Research (EAR) course (Pilot)


The British Council Uzbekistan is offering a place on a pilot programme called ‘Exploratory Action Research’, which is for English language teachers working in the state school system who want to develop their knowledge and skills in conducting action research in their own classroom context. The course will be hosted on the British Council Online Teacher Community from 27 Sep to 06 Dec 2021.


The course includes topics around exploring your own practice, choosing focus areas for research in your classroom, formulating research questions, choosing tools, making conclusions, sharing your research findings, etc. While studying this course you will be supported in conducting your own action research study


We are looking for teachers who are able to commit approx. six hours a week over this 12week period and who will be interested in actively carrying out their own small research project.


In addition to that, those successful in the programme and committed to it will have a chance to become one of our EAR Champion Researchers, joining our EAR community and supporting the delivery of other EAR courses in the future.


You will be guided by an internationally acclaimed expert in the sphere of Action Research, Paula Rebolledo, and supported by one of OTC moderators, Maria Jose Galleno, who is also the OTC lead for the Action Research Special Interest Group.

Teachers with previous action research experience will have advantage in the selection process.

Please, note that if you apply for this pilot we do not recommend that you engage in other programmes being offered as part of the Online Teacher Community in the period Sep – Dec 2021 due to the time commitment of 6 hours weekly needed for the EAR course.
