6. Conclusion
In this work, the effect of BF addition on hydrogen fermentation
characteristics of corn straw was investigated. The hydrogen yield was
obviously affected by BF dose and particle size. Compared to control
group, H
2
yield was increased up to 18.35% by BF addition. The
maximum H
2
yield observed was 323.94 mL at the dose of 1.5 g/L with
particle size of 300
–
400 mesh. During the fermentation, the BF could
improve organic acids distribution, which in turn accelerated hydrogen
production. Our results indicated that BF creates a more favorable
environment for photosynthetic bacteria.
