1.Balloon Phonics is a phonics reading game for young children which focuses on three letter words (consonant-vowel-consonant or CVC). It is aimed at children who are working on the phonemes in Stage 2 of the Letters and Sounds programme.

Each of the letter sounds is supported by a sound button so the game provides practise for children to use the sounds they have learned so far and also learn new sounds. It also helps them to practise oral blending of sounds and the segmentation of words into their individual sounds.

There are three different games to choose from: Initial sounds, Middle and End sounds. Working through the levels helps children to progress through the different stages of blending sounds together.

2.Sound Sayer

Practise blending for reading

This tool is intended to support whole-class or small group phonics teaching or to support parents/carers when supporting their child at home.

Instructions:

1. 
   Choose a phase (Letters & Sounds) from the top of the sound chart/poster.
   
2. 
   Choose a sound to teach/practise.
   
3. 
   Wait for the pencil to write the grapheme.
   
4. 
   When the flash card stops moving you can press the sound button to hear the phoneme.
   
5. 
   The press on the '...' at the bottom of the card to see the grapheme in some words, (words taken from Letters & Sounds).
   
6. 
   Press on the dots and dashes to blend the sounds.
   
7. 
   'Kiss goodbye' to the sounds/words when you want to remove them.
   
8. 
   NB: You can't change sounds or phases until all words/sounds have been closed/kissed goodbye.

3.Sky Writer

An aeroplane-themed handwriting demonstration tool.

Learning Objective:

To sit correctly at a table, holding a pencil comfortably and correctly.

To form lower-case letters in the correct direction, starting and finishing in the right place.

This tool is designed for whole-class handwriting sessions using a digital display, or small group work with a tablet propped up on the table.

1. Choose a night or day sky, (useful for dim projectors).

2. Choose cursive or printed letter formation.

3. Choose the letter you wish to practise.

Then watch the jet make your letter in smoke.

There is no game element to this resource, it is purely designed to foster interest in handwriting.

NB:Children can select the smoke colour.
