strategy. Say: You are going to read about Lee Strasberg and his ideas. If you are confused about 
an idea, underline it. When you have finished reading, go back to any part you underlined to 
see if you now understand the information. Have students read the passage. Then direct them to 
complete the skill and strategy practice activities. Review the answers together.

granddaughter who goes shopping for her grandmother’s birthday present. Say: Think about the 
theme the author is sharing through the characters’ words and actions. Then remind students of

happening in the story right now? Have students read the passage. When students have finished,
