9.1.1 Mary and Somchai are talking about their neighbors.
Mary: Have you ever seen our neighbors?
Somchai: No, I haven't. But I've heard them.
Mary: Right? Strange sounds keep coming from the house after dark.
Somchai: I know. It's scary. Who knows what goes on in that house.
Mary: Strange things go on in there. That's for sure.
9.1.2 Jo is taking a tour of a college with some other prospective students. The tour is
being given by a professor from the college.
Professor: And this is the Johnson Wing.
Jo: What goes on in these labs, professor?
Professor: A great deal of excellent research goes on in there. Especially
into microbiology.
Jo: Cool. Can we take a tour of the labs?
Professor: No, I'm afraid not. You need to arrange a visit in advance.
Jo: Oh well.
