INFORMATION LITERACY and technologies librarian
Kemp Library, East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking an Information Literacy and Technologies Librarian to facilitate the planning, implementation, promotion, and expansion of the reach and quality of Kemp Library’s information literacy and instructional programs in support of student skill and knowledge development, retention, and success. The librarian will provide leadership and expertise in designing, developing, and supporting the library’s virtual presence, planning its technology infrastructure, training library faculty and staff to improve their technological knowledge and skills, and incorporate latest technological solutions into the library’s web presence. This is a full time, continuing tenure track faculty position beginning in January 2015 and reports directly to the Library Dean. Positions typically fill at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level, commensurate with experience and training.
Responsibilities: The Information Literacy and Technologies Librarian will have primary responsibility for all aspects of the library’s information literacy program and for technological innovations, implementation, and training. The major components of this position include playing a leading role in designing, implementing, expanding, assessing, promoting, and advocating for the Library’s instructional role on campus, collaborating with other library faculty to design and deliver library instruction in conventional and virtual settings, and serving as a technology facilitator on the use of instructional and other technologies.
Responsibilities include the following:

Leads the Library’s information literacy efforts and supports other library faculty in the design and development of new and innovative technologies for delivering reference and instructional services.

Bears primary responsibility for the growth of the library’s information literacy program, both in reach and quality.

Actively promotes the integration of information literacy competencies in academic programs across the university curriculum.

Develops and facilitates the use of instructional technologies in information literacy instruction, creates and supports the creation of web-based library instruction modules for on-campus and distance education constituencies.

Develops and delivers online tutorials for library and research skills instruction.

Takes the lead and works collaboratively with library and classroom faculty to assess information literacy programs and develops assessment tools and instruments.

Coordinates requests for instruction and schedules all instruction sessions.

Routinely compiles statistical and evaluative reports, and creates on a regular basis annual reports on library instruction programs and initiatives.

Provides information literacy instruction to students and faculty.

Discusses and develops goals for instruction sessions based on request and expectations of course and consistent with Middle States and Association of College and Research Libraries information literacy competency standards.

Monitors and ensures updating of electronic guides to ensure consistency with Kemp library web site changes and/or changes in electronic resources.

Supports the creation of course- and curriculum-integrated library and information resources, including multimedia tutorials, subject and research guides, and ensures the Library's presence in the University’s online course management system.

Enhances the library website's interactivity with multimedia tutorials and social networking tools, and works collaboratively with other assigned librarians on the development and maintenance of library web pages.

Provides support in implementing technology related to the Library’s outreach efforts.

Works with Access Services to resolve issues regarding public terminals, and library equipment and software.

Keeps abreast of the latest developments and trends in information literacy, instructional technology, and web design and support.

Participates in the reference rotation (including some evenings and weekends).

Serves as a liaison to assigned academic departments.

Shares in collection development.

Maintains professional currency and scholarly growth.

Other duties as assigned by the Library Dean.
Required Qualifications: Masters of Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program and professional experience in an academic library. The candidates should also demonstrate potential for scholarly activities.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching information literacy skills to undergraduate students; Experience applying instructional technologies to information literacy and library instruction; Experience creating interactive teaching/learning tutorials; Education/experience in computer applications; Knowledge of technical languages, such as SHTML, DHTML, PHP, Java Script, XML, CSS; Knowledge of Web authoring and graphic design tools, such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Adobe Photoshop; Experience creating and maintaining web content; Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with a wide range of print and electronic information resources; Experience with social media; Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public; Evidence of effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively; Work experience with diverse populations.
