Cultural shock
Nowadays there are many people traveling around the . Some of them travel for entertainment, others go abroad in business or study purpose. I think Moving overseas can be a thrilling experience because you can expect to find yourself exploring unfamiliar territory, meeting new people and trying different things. If you intend to go abroad, you need to know about culture shock, and how to handle it.
Cultural shock is the personal disorientation a person may feel when experiencing an unfamiliar way of life due to immigration or a visit to a new country or to move between social environments also a simple travel to another type of life. It can be described as consisting of at least one of four distinct phases: Honeymoon, Negotiation, Adjustment, Adaptation.
When you first arrive in a new place and everything is just fantastic. That’s the so -called “honeymoon stage”. In this stage, you are in love with your new
travel destination, all the new foods, the people, the unforgettable attractions and things to do. In negotiation stage You may start to find frustrating systems or aspects of the culture. Something just confuses and irritates you. Adjusting stage can be subjective from person to person. It might take just a few hours, or weeks or even months. It all depends on the person, the shock they are exposed to and how they can cope. Finding ways to slowly overcome the differences will vary in every country you visit. Finally, you overcome the differences and find a sense of belonging in your new environment. You learn to accept the differences in culture and this called adaptation stage.
If you facing a cultural shock, you will behave differently and this called “Symptoms of cultural shock”. The first symptom of cultural shock is feeling homesick. This may not be easy to note. Many people will look sickly. One may lose the interest in many things even those that they are fond and used to doing. The other things that may help you know if you are suffering from cultural shock include having sleeping problems, missing your culture, feeling insecure or as a target, getting angry pretty fast and having obsession for unusual stuff. Many people will want to spend a lot of time cooking or cleaning things.
When it comes to how to deal with, I have some recommends. The most crucial and good thing is to make sure that you are physiologically prepared. The best way you can do this is by making sure you read a lot of stuff about the place you are moving to. You should also move or relocate having a humble attitude. By this, you will be eager to learn new stuff. This will help you not to feel bored. It will also help you to settle pretty fast. It is also good to try and keep off your worries. You can do so by
trying to talk to people that you know around your new place.
