Watch the video and give definite explanations to the differences among ALLOW, PERMIT and LET.
Allow, Permit and Let all have a similar meaning: give permission or make it possible for somebody to do or have something.
Allow is more formal than Let. We use a direct object + to infinitive after allow.
Ex: I would not allow a child to have a TV in there room.
Permit is more formal than allow. We use a direct object + to infinitive after permit.
Ex: Drivers permit or parking permit.
Let means let someone do something, so we use an infinitive without to.
Ex: Why don’t let me go.
