Task 2
Key Facts
The Coca Cola Company is an American food company that produces concentrates, syrups and soft drinks. Thus, the number of trademarks of the company is more than 350, which also includes the globally popular Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Aquarius, Tropico, Gold Peak, etc. The company's products are produced all over the world and occupies a leading position among drinks. In 2010, Coca Cola bought Coca Cola Enterprises. Moreover, in November 2015, Coca-Cola Enterprises merged with Coca-Cola Iberian Partners SA and Coca-Cola Erfrischungsgetränke AG to become Coca-Cola European Partners. One of the company's most recent acquisitions (2018, The Coca Cola Company) is the Tropico brand of refreshing drinks, spring water and soda, headquartered in France. The motive for this acquisition was Tropico's rapid growth in the fruit drinks market, which grew by 4.9% from 2014 to 2017.
General Areas of Risk for the Coca Cola Company
For the period of 2020, the Coca Cola Company has several business risks (strategic, operational and financial). In 2020, the company launched the innovation process of introducing not only technological, but also advertising innovations in the history of the brand. This strategy was not successful and led to a decrease in the company's competitiveness in the market. Further, composition confidentiality and the product information system were at risk. The leakage of key information because of a security breach and weak company protection can lead to significant financial losses. This is one of the company's operational risks.
As a result of tax increases by the government, the company has to increase the price of products. Such an action could lead to strong competition and lead to the loss of a leading position in the beverage market. In addition, the constant fluctuation of the exchange rate can affect the global production and performance of the company and be its financial risk.
