INTRODUCTION
The first tour operator went into business in England in 1758, and is still in
business today.
In Europe, pleasure travel started in earnest during the 1840s, when
Thomas Cook began conducting tours to Paris and later around Europe. By the 1850s,
railroad tours were already in operation.
The bachelor thesis defines the role of tour operator as a key factor in the
success of the tourism industry. Tourists count on tour operators to turn their dream
vacations into realities. Booking a tour is an easy way for a traveler to experience a
foreign land and make sure they hit the best spots. The main goal or function of a tour
operator is to organize the services
being provided to the customer, such as
transportation and accommodations. The tour operator is the brains behind the beauty
of vacation and they leverage their expertise and resources. The tour operator is the
leader of any
activity that has been planned, and they must be able to conduct
themselves as such. An effective leader is organized and is able to effectively use
technology in order to maximize the efficiency of the tours
Furthermore, the paper analyzes the evaluating
alternative methods of tour
distribution and recognize the importance of new forms of electronic reservations and
sales systems for operators and their clients.
The subject of this thesis is theoretical aspects of tour operator services in
tourism industry.
The object of the research is explaining the functions of each type of
operator.
