Abstract
: “Metrological traceability” can be explained as follows: “That is the property of the result of measurement, and 
through this the result itself can be associated with a reference with the help of a document-supported undamaged chain of calibrations. 
In their turn, each one of these calibrations contributes to the uncertainty of measurement”. Keeping it simple, we can say that, the term 
“metrological traceability” is actually a direct joint that links the measurement result on in the area and the result of the best potential 
measurement in a laboratory of calibration. It can be seen quite obviously that, different measurement methods and tools that are used 
at different periods in different places make comparable, accurate, and concordant results of measurement. In case the result of 
measurement is traceable from the metrological point of view, then it can be associated to the references of measurement that are 
internationally‐accepted. The notion of metrological traceability also serves as an important technical requirement of ISO/IEC 
17025:2017. It applies to laboratories of calibration and testing, which are going to prove their competence from the technical point of 
view. In the given article the notion of metrological traceability is discussed, focusing on the laboratory testing and calibration. 
Recommendations are made for the purpose of selection and use of certified reference materials as well.
