Comparison of Uzbek education to the UK educational system
Educational system remains as a significant factor in the development of any country. As education is developed to varying degrees in the different parts of the world, the system belonging to the United Kingdom and Uzbek education have various specific features in terms of stages, duration, subjects and quality. First of all, there is a slight difference in the branches of education in these two countries. Particularly, they both have primary, secondary, higher education levels, however, duration of each stage differs to some extent. For instance, in Uzbekistan primary school lasts 4 years, 7-year-old children being admitted and secondary school 7 years covering 5-11^th grades but according to the British educational system children start schooling at the age of 5 attending primary school for 6 years and continue secondary school until the age of 16. Moreover, in Uzbekistan educational system children can leave school after the 9^th grade and study at lyceums. One of the distinguishing features of British system is that upon the graduation from secondary school students can either apply for a two-year preparation program to pass A-level examinations which enable them to enter university, or get a job in the service sector. Second, the distinction in terms of subjects and quality of education should not be neglected as well. Certainly, the universities of the UK are ranked leading places in the list of the best universities in the world. In my opinion, it is due to the fact that their education is narrow-profile which means students are prepared for their future professions since secondary school studying some compulsory subjects such as English, Math, Sciences, History, Languages and optional subjects chosen according to their abilities and preferences. On the other hand, in Uzbekistan there is no such options provided to students and all subjects included into curriculum are required to be studied. Nevertheless, Uzbek education is evolving nowadays and striving to match international standards in the field of education. In conclusion, the educational systems of Uzbekistan and the UK have lots of discrepancies in several aspects that impact on the quality of education.
