Heat Recovery and Reclaim
A
heat recovery system
intercepts and utilizes heat which would oth-
erwise be ‘‘wasted’’ to a heat sink. The most common systems provide
air-to-air heat interchange between supply and exhaust airstreams.
Use of refrigeration condenser heat for heating (as in a heat pump) or
reheat is common. A less common application is heat recovery from a
process, e.g., hot wastewater. Some heat recovery systems deal only
with sensible heat; others include both sensible heat and latent heat
and are called
total heat recovery systems.
