Opposed-blade damper characteristics.
Damper operators are similar in construction to operators used on
valves, but the mountings, linkages and, sometimes, body designs are
different. Since standard damper sections are seldom larger than 4 ft
in either dimension, a jackshaft is used to connect multiple sections
to a single operator.
As in control-valve selection, it is important to note that excess pres-
sure drop through a control damper will increase fan energy usage.
The designer must decide how critical this situation would be. Again,
variable-speed motor usage will affect the decisions.
