Action-packed [Adjective] (full of exciting activities, events). TAKEN is one of the most action-packed movies I have ever watched! My brother loves big-budget, action-packed movies.
Addictive [Adjective] (something is so enjoyable that you quickly become addicted to).
Video games can be quite addictive for young kids. The TV show is very addictive.
Creepy [Adjective] (producing a feeling of fear, scary or unease).
The house looked OK from the outside but inside it was all dark and creepy. It feels a bit creepy in here.
There's something creepy about the building.
Dreary [Adjective] (sad, boring or depressing).
After the death of her grandmother, she was in a dreary mood for weeks. The song was dreary and repetitive.
Heartbreaking [Adjective] (making you feel extremely sad or upset).
It is heartbreaking that she cannot see her children. It was a heartbreaking story.
Inspirational [Adjective] (making you feel enthusiastic or encouraged to do something).
Last week, I read a very inspirational book called The Power of Now. In my mind, he is a very inspirational author because he shows us many
things that we can do.
The quotes are very inspirational.
Tear-jerking [Adjective] (sad, tragic, making you cry). The film Annie is a tear-jerking story about an orphan. The movie is very romantic and very tear-jerking.
Box office hit [Noun] (a very successful movie that a lot of tickets are well sold).
Her last film was a surprise box-office hit.
The movie became a box-office record breaker.
E-reader [Noun] (a portable electronic device on which you can read books, newspapers, magazines, etc).
I want to read my books on my e-reader, not on my computer.
She actually goes to the library more than she did before she had her e-reader.
From cover to cover [Expression] (from the beginning to the end (a book or magazine)).
It's a book to be read from cover to cover.
I read the newspaper from cover to cover on the train.
Hardcover [Noun] (a book that has a hardcover (bound in cloth, leather)).
Her friend gave her a hardcover book as a present for her birthday. The novel was published in hardcover.
Page turner [Noun] (a book that is very interesting or exciting that you want to read it quickly).
The book is a page-turner and now I cannot take a break until I complete reading it.
Even though we know the outcome, the story is a page-turner.
The book so interesting that she can't stop reading. It is a page turner.
